At first visit: 30 to 40 minutes.

  1. Please arrive 10mins earlier to fill the New Patients Forms or you can download them from the button on top and bring them in on your visit. This will provide us with your general medical history and information about the condition that caused you to seek chiropractic care.

  2. Consultation - our chiropractor will ask questions about your health history, your condition, and your expectations, so that we can determine how our chiropractic care can meet your needs.

  3. Exam by our chiropractor – to find out the cause of the problem, our chiropractor will perform a comprehensive physical examination with particular attention to your spine.

  4. X-rays or other imaging if needed - Depending on your specific condition, we may refer for X-rays or other imaging if necessary. These images will give us further information and can result in a more effective treatment plan.

  5. Treatment - When we have your working diagnosis of your pain and discomfort, we will then develop a personalised treatment program and this will be explained to the patient in detail. If it is appropriate, with the patient’s consent, we will start our initial treatment on the same day.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A REMEDIAL MASSAGE TREATMENT?

Many new clients, especially if they’ve never had a massage before,

maybe nervous when arriving for their first massage appointment. At Hands on Chiropractic & Health, we make sure your experience is a positive one.

 - What should I expect during a massage treatment?

Please arrive 10mins earlier to fill the New Patients intake forms.

A licensed massage therapist will review a detailed health intake with you before providing any massage services. This important step helps the massage therapist better understand your needs and provide the safest possible massage services. All information given to the massage therapist is confidential.

- During my massage should I leave my clothes on or get fully undressed?

A licensed massage therapist will always practice industry guideline draping techniques.  Draping is where the massage therapist folds and tucks the towel or sheet around your body, only exposing the areas to be worked on. If you feel more comfortable leaving your loose-fitting underwear on, that is totally fine -- and you will still be draped. Your therapist will keep you covered with soft towels for warmth and modesty at all times.

- I arrived with a lot of pain, but after the massage, the pain is still there.

While massage therapy will assist with pain relief, it may take several hours after your massage for the pain relief effects to kick in. Additional sessions may be needed to reduce pain for chronic conditions.  When you join a gym and want to get into shape, you don't expect to reach your goal with a single workout.

Massage therapy, when applied correctly, may require more than one session to achieve your pain relief goals. If you are suffering from an injury or condition beyond the scope of massage therapy, we will refer you to someone who can best help you.
