FAQ
TOP 9 QUESTIONS WE HEAR FROM PATIENTS
Is chiropractic safe?
Chiropractic care is a safe treatment option when it is performed by qualified chiropractors. In Australia, chiropractors are trained at university level over 5 years and every chiropractor needs to meet stringent standards, codes and guidelines.
Serious complications from chiropractic care are overall rare- about 1-3 in a million. This is significantly lower than many conventional treatment options. Please feel free to discuss any concerns with our chiropractor.

Is chiropractic appropriate for all ages?
Yes, our chiropractor has treated people of all age groups. Our chiropractor will choose techniques and methods appropriate for a particular age group and underlying condition. This can range from extremely gentle chiropractic activator adjustments to a more sports based approach.

Can patients with underlying conditions such as osteoarthritis or osteoporosis get chiropractic treatment?
Yes, our chiropractor will note the unique circumstances of each patient and develop the treatment plan that will be tailored to each individual. A low force chiropractic technique can be applied if necessary. Please notify us if you have any concerns.

What is the popping sound heard during manipulation?
Popping sound or joint cavitation is the result of tiny pockets of air that have built up in the joints of the spine being released, which can actually help reduce the amount of pressure on the spine.
Do I need a referral from a GP?
No, you do not need a GP referral to see a chiropractor.

Can you see a chiropractor after back surgery?

Can pregnant women get chiropractic care?
Yes, pregnancy induced hormonal and physical changes increase the risk of musculoskeletal problems. Yet, for safer pregnancy, pregnant women are advised to avoid painkillers. Chiropractic is a safe and non-invasive modality if you suffer from back pain during the pregnancy. Our chiropractor is trained to use safe techniques to keep you and your baby safe.

Does chiropractic manipulation hurt?
Our chiropractic manipulation technique is gentle but effective. Therefore, in most cases, not at all. Usually, the most tender part of the treatment is pre-adjustment soft tissue release, which is similar to deep tissue massage. And if you would like our chiropractor to use less pressure, just let us know.

Do I need an advance payment for many visits?
Absolutely not. Not only is each and every one of us different but patients may also present differently on each visit. Therefore, it is not possible to predict in advance that a large specified number of visits will be needed. Patients will be assessed and treated accordingly on each visit. We do not force our client to sign any upfront payments.
